What are the five ways to wellbeing?
The wellbeing of children is high on everyone’s agenda, yet many are unfamiliar with the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’ framework that improves the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and adults.
That’s why we created our school workshop and the acronym GetCALM – we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to know and remember these five ways and how to benefit from them!
We have taken the evidence-based wellbeing framework that Public Health England uses* and brought it to life in a fun, engaging and memorable way. And in helping your children learn, practice and benefit from it, you can be helping yourself too.
Just as having 5 fruit and vegetables helps us to receive the food nutrients we need for healthy bodies, these 5 Ways to Wellbeing can help naturally produce the ‘nutrients and chemicals’ that our brains need for good brain development and wellbeing.
What are the 5 Ways to Wellbeing?
get Giving
get Connected
get Active
get Learning
get Mindful
Over the coming weeks and months we are going to break down the importance of each of these and provide some simple ways to include them in day to day life. Here is our first article on Get Giving and the importance of being kind and helping others.

The A-life Mental Wellbeing session was Amazing! I have never seen my class so engaged in a workshop. Each station was exciting, fun and encouraged great team work. I am excited to follow up on GetCALM Activities. The trainer was patient, calm and explained everything clearly. 5 ***** Byron Court Primary School
